Hi Rockstar
friends!
We constantly work with our clients about finding
and capitalizing on their God-given, natural gifts
and talents. So we have to ask: Have you SEEN
the incredible YouTube video this week featuring
Ted Williams, aka “The Golden Voice?”
Actually, have you HEARD it? Ted, a homeless man
with an incredible gift of voice, has had his
world turned around literally overnight because
a YouTube video about him has gone viral. And
when you see the inspiring story, you’ll
know why it went viral. But more importantly,
Ted did a few very specific things that created
his success. These are things that YOU can do,
too. And yes, they can create your success, too.
(If you’ve not seen the video yet, here’s
the link. Watch it, and then check back into
this newsletter to see how Ted’s success
can impact YOU.)
He worked to develop his talent even
when nobody else seemed to listen or care.
Ted found his talent at a young age when he was
exposed to a radio announcer who looked nothing
like he sounded. Clearly a turning point for him,
he studied radio and in his words, “went
to school for it.” He listened and learned
from others who knew more than he did, which is
indeed a powerful way to develop your gift, talent,
or craft.
He was willing to be vulnerable with
his talent.
Asking for help isn’t easy for a lot of
us. Asking for help in an unconventional way is
not only difficult, it’s downright vulnerable.
But that vulnerability and willingness to be open
and share our gifts is also how opportunity happens.
As we say, open your mouth to tell others about
your talent and you’ll open doors to share
it with the world. That’s what Ted did.
In fact, he did what most people wouldn’t
think of or be brave enough to do. Big dividends.
He ignored the odds and the obstacles.
This is where so many of us get off track. We
look at the odds. We look at the challenges stacked
against us. And we let those things define our
“I can’t” philosophy. Yet Ted
had no room to say, “I can’t.”
Instead, how chose, “I can.” It has
taken time, and clearly some difficult days. But
happy day, Ted... today, you win and you inspire
all of us to be a little bit (or a lot) better
at finding and capitalizing on our natural gifts
and talents.
We look forward to seeing how Ted’s story
develops in the coming weeks and months. And we
look forward to seeing how each of YOUR stories
develop, as well. It’s all about finding
your natural gifts and talents... and being brave
enough, willing enough, and joyful enough to use
them in a BIG way.
Until next time... Rock on!
