I think women need to do this more! This has always been my philosophy because I've seen too many people in my life become exhausted and unable to fully do tasks to the best of their ability. I think part of a good employee and leader is to evaluate each thing that comes your way and to carefully select which are the most important or which you would be best at completing. I also think we need to delegate more. Who says we'd be the best person to do something? There are a lot of capable people out there. A lot of times the people that work for you or around you are wanting to take on more or get experience in a certain area. Let them.

Aly and Andrea, I love this post and bless you for saying it. It doesn't serve anyone to be in a relationship - personal, professional, romantic or otherwise - that is not healthy, supportive, respectful, and mutually beneficial. Sometimes it's a permanent step we must take or perhaps just a temporary one. Either way and whatever the circumstances, being more intentional about who we have in our lives and who we allow into our lives is critical to our well being and our success - even out ability to live out our purpose. I keep thinking that everyone knows this but that's not the case.

Great video with three common-sense (but often overlooked) tips. I know I needed a reminder about these. It's so easy to get so caught up in the busy-ness of our days as women.

I'd like to add one more: a hybrid of one of your tips. Calculating the Hidden Opportunity Cost.

When an opportunity comes along, even one that sounds enticing or full of promise (great exposure, the opportunity to meet lots of people or share a sample of your expertise with them) consider what it will really require in time, energy, money, and resources to partake in this opportunity. What will you have to give up to do it? Compare all this to what you could potentially receive in return.

I just turned down two opportunities today that sounded really great at first, but when I calculated what they would require....all of a sudden they didn't look so great. What a relief to say no!

Tip of the coffee mug to you ladies!

I guess that you are right. Depending on personality type, some people will readily say "no - not now" but other personality types find it very difficult to say no because they like helping other people. I guess they will have to learn whow to say no nicely.
