Edie McRae It’s always cool to go away from an interview knowing, “That was a rock star woman in business.”  And that’s exactly what we said to each other when we wrapped our interview with Millionaire Moms Media founder, Edie McCrae last week.  Pronounce it Eee-die, not Eddy.  She’s not a dude.  She’s one cool mom who knows not only how to make it happen in the office, she does it while keeping her husband and two kids a priority, which is critical in our Rock Star U curriculum.

Edie’s in the business of helping other women succeed in large part through social media.  What’s the inspiration for Edie’s song?  She told us, “I have this overwhelming desire to help people to help themselves.” And she didn’t always know that desire was going to form up in the fashion of social media either.  Her first (of three) careers helping people was as a nurse.  For ten years in her nursing career, she did just that- helped people.

But after the birth of a premature baby, nursing rightfully took a back seat to the care of her newborn.  Fast forward a bit, and soon Edie was juggling healthy little ones with a new, but highly successful career in direct sales.  Learned a lot, made a lot (of dinero), but missed the fam a lot.  Sound familiar?

Quite a step from nursing, and with much to juggle, she knew she was ready to get back to her hearts desire of helping people. Starting with her husband and kids first.  Bring on “Millionaire Moms!”

Edie likes to say she was blogging and into social media “before it was cool.”  We say she was always cool.  With the fairly recent launch of Millionaire Moms Media, Edie is finally back to not only what she loves, but what she is really, really good at.  Helping people.

On why she called her business “Millionaire Moms Media,” she said, “Being a mom is so much of who I am, I thought why hide that?  I like to bring who I am to my business.”

We put everything in Rock Star terminology, so we asked Edie who was in her entourage and who the president of her fan club was.  Here’s why she rocks.  She immediately blurted out her husband, Jeff, as the president of her fan club. (All together now, Awwww…)

“He has always been my cheerleader even when I wanted to quit or doubted myself.” Very cool of him.  She continues, “He pushes me to be better and get outside my comfort zone. Its great to have a spouse that challenges me.”  Mama McRae also credits her extended family in New Orleans for teaching her great work ethic, and “the fabulous ladies at EWomen Network’s Houston Chapter for encouraging her and supporting her in both personal and professional endeavors. Every rock star has to have great people around them, and Edie certainly identifies with that.

On “What’s next on your Tour Stop?” (Again, we talk like Rock Stars.)  She gave us the inside scoop.  “I want to expand globally.  I want to write a book.” Somehow, we think she’ll be there soon.

Of all the rock star qualities that Edie has, we love most her fearless grasp of who she is and who she wants to be.  She said, “You can’t be afraid to be you.  That’s why people are drawn to you.”  Maybe that’s why we are drawn to her.  She’s real.  Millionaire Moms Media founder, yes.  Mom, yes (and first). Millionaire, perhaps.  Making a difference? Always.

See we don’t know, or even care if Edie is ever really a financial millionaire or not.  Couldn’t care less.  But because she’s gifted at helping others help themselves through social media, she’s loaded.  Because she does it with her family in first place, she’s rich. Because she’s transparent and authentic, and a mom, she’s definitely a Millionaire Mom.
